WBWC Meeting Minutes – June 6, 2002


Bob Krzewinski (Bob Kr below), Rebecca Kanner, Ken Clark, Bruce Fields, Kris Talley, Scott Koll, Bob Klingler (Bob Kl below), and Steve Moore were in attendance. Meeting called to order at 7:10pm.Meeting Minutes from 5/2 meeting approved. Treasurer report: $243.80 in the treasury.

4.a. Membership outreach - Two-Wheel Tango agreed to join the WBWC . Bob Kr. is working with them.
b. July meeting is canceled due to meeting date (1st Thursday) falling on July 4.

5. a. DDA - June 20th meeting had to be canceled. Other meeting dates: 27th June, some other night in July at DDA staff convenience.

5.b.
· The Bike To Work Week WBWC display at the Ann Arbor Farmer's Market was fairly quiet. Bike To Work day went fairly well. Around 30 people were there including the Mayor and Chief of Police.
· Pittsfield Township also had a hike and bike event earlier in May where the WBWC participated.
· Critical Mass ride last week had about a dozen people. Apparently ridership drops off in the summer with students out of town.
· Eco-ride is this Sunday, the WBWC will have a table. Bob Kr, Bob Kl, Bruce will attend to staff the booth.
· Green Fair June 28th 6-9 in Ann Arbor; WBWC will have a display.
· Huron River Day July 14th noon-4pm - Looking for volunteers for the WBWC display.
· Bike To Work Week 2003 - Work to get the Chamber and DDA to sponsor BTWW. Look into a bike/walk to school event with schools and colleges for October.

5. c.
· Bike Coordinator - The Ann Arbor City Council approved a budget amendment creating an Alternative Transportation Coordinator. Bob Kr will draft a thank-you letter that will also help "direct" the position job description.
· UM Bike Coordinator - Rebecca checked and found that most of the student groups are inactive. She will check again in the fall.
· Bob Kl Checked into other universities and found information on many that he will compile.
· Scott suggested working with the County to get things done regionally.
· We discussed regional projects and FHWA guidance, along with Washtenaw Area Transportation Study Transportation Plan.

Update on Ken Clarks ticket. Briefs are due June 28th. Check with Lu Chaney about a video showing Ann Arbor Bike police biking properly a decent distance from parked cars. Bob Kr. reported on the Segway legislation going through the state house. Local control was restored in committee. Bob Kr. wrote letters of thanks and support to local agencies that he passed out at the meeting. Bob Kr. adjourned the meeting at 8:40pm.
