WBWC Meeting Minutes – November 6, 2003

1. Call to order at 7pm - The meeting was held at the home of WBWC Treasurer Scott Koll with attendees being Kris Talley, Rebecca Kanner, Ana Iacob, Bob Krzewinski, Bob Goodsell, Christa McDermott, Scott Koll, Bruce Fields, Ken Clark, Riin Gill, Marcy Bauman, others arriving later

2. Approval of previous meeting minutes - Minutes approved

3. Treasurer's report - Scott Koll reported $722.55 in the account now with new memberships and renewals coming in.

4. WBWC General Business
a. Membership report/outreach
1. Renewals - Membership rosters have been sent out on email. Also, the roster needs to be reviewed to purge listings for people who are no longer members.
2. WBWC brochure in AABTS newsletter - Rebecca talked to Carol Hann about this with more follow-up needed. The AABTS is starting a separate safety newsletter, and this might be the place to include a brochure. An alternative to a WBWC brochure in an AABTS newsletter would be a one-page flyer. Tim Athan and Rebecca Kanner will research this option.

b. 2004 WBWC Elections
1. Board Elections - Rebecca Kanner is leaving the Board. Bob Goodsell, Jim Nieters, and Christa McDermott are continuing Board members going into their second year of office. The terms of Tim Athan, Kris Talley, Ken Clark, Scott Koll, and Bruce Fields ended, but they were reelected; Bruce's new term is for one year to fill the remainder of the term of Leigh McCue, who recently resigned from the Board. The terms for the other just elected Board members are for two years as per the WBWC by-laws. Ana Iacob was elected to the board with a 2-year term. The new board is therefore 9 members: Bob Goodsell, Jim Nieters, Christa McDermott, Tim Athan, Kris Talley, Ken Clark, Scott Koll, Bruce Fields, and Ana Iacob.
2. Officer Elections - Officer elections will take place in December.

5. Actions
a. WBWC 2003 bicycling/walking project priorities
1. Non-Motorized Projects: University of Michigan - A small number of WBWC Board members will meet with the new University Transportation Director Sue Gott in December. No time has been set yet. Norm Cox of the Greenways Collaborative will also be notified of the meeting and a meeting agenda will be sent out by e-mail.
2. Road Shoulder Paving - There was nothing new on this subject but Kris Talley will follow-up.
3. Huron River Drive - No update.

b. Other
1. Walking Group Formation - Ana Iacomb is still researching the establishment of a walking group/scheduled walk, looking at other groups, setting up a walking-buddy matching service and reviewing the book "Footloose in Washtenaw" (available from the Ecology Center) for routes. Also the Historical Society may have walk route suggestions.
2. 2004 Projects - This subject will be a major issue at the December Board meeting and it was suggested that members should come to that meeting with a list of projects they would be interested in for next year.
3. Snow Ordinances - It was suggested that the WBWC be adjusted to make snow-clearing information more prominent.

6. Adjournment - Next meeting: Thursday, December 4. Meeting adjourned at 7:25pm followed by a presentation to the membership by Norm Cox of the Ann Arbor based Greenways Collaborative.
