C. Other
Tawny Gapinski, Environment Educator for the Ecology Center, stopped in
to mention that she and (?) were working on implementing a
"Walking School Bus" at Mitchell School, with the first meeting
with parents scheduled for 1/15/04. Ana offered that she might be
able to help as she lives in the area.
Bob Klingler reported that he attended another meeting regarding the US
23 and Washtenaw interchange and that the plan seems to be to
install a paved side path with no traffic controls on the on/off
ramps. He also attended a meeting about the proposed
configuration of Stadium Boulevard. The city proposed bike paths
but those present expressed a preference for bike lanes and
planners were apparently receptive to this idea.
5. Actions
A. WBWC 2003 priorities
1. Non-motorized projects at U-M
Kris, Bob G., Christa, Riin, and Bruce Fields met 12/3 to discuss
priorities and topics for upcoming meeting with U-M planner Sue
Gott. An outline is being developed to send to her so that she
can decide who else should attend the meeting. After it's
finalized by the group, it will be sent to WBWC board for
comment/review. Meeting is anticipated in January.
2. Road shoulder paving. Nothing new to report.
3. Huron River Drive. Jim Nieters e-mailed an update. He proposes to
use his own funds to survey local residents about the prospect of
closing HRD to car traffic at certain times. Members agreed that
it would be appropriate to discuss using WBWC funds for this.

Current magazine for a group to meet on Saturdays at 11 at Buhr
