Meeting Minutes - June 7, 2001

The meeting was called to order at 7:05pm at the Ecology Center, 117 N.
Division in Ann Arbor. Board members attendees were Ken Clark, Rebecca
Kanner, Bob Krzewinski and Tim Athan. Guests included Lu Chaney, Bob Klinger,
Jim Nieters, Alvan Uhle and Riin Gill.

On WBWC formalization, Rebecca Kanner gave information on the establishment
of the WBWC checking account noting that the account needed to have listed
formal officers. In a motion by Rebecca Kanner, seconded by Tim Athan and
passing unanimously, the Board reaffirmed/affirmed that WBWC acting officers
would be Bob Krzewinski: President, Kris Talley: Vice President, Ken Clark:
Secretary and Scott Koll: Treasurer. Rebecca also reported that as of June
7th, the WBWC treasury had $245.00.

Concerning by-laws, Bob Krzewinski reported that he is still working on
revisions and should have the final document ready for Board approval
shortly. On business memberships, Board members would continue to contact
bike/running/outdoor shops. Assignments were as follows: Kris Talley (Great
Lakes Cycle, Student Bike Shop), Ken Clark (Running Fit, Tortoise and Hare),
Rebecca Kanner (Two Wheel Tango, Washtenaw Cycle) and Bob Krzewinski (Town
and Country Cycle, Ypsilanti Cycle). On the WBWC membership form, Rebecca
Kanner suggested it be revised to include a line for organizations to include
the number of their membership. Tim Athan would make this change and forward
a copy to Bob Krzewinski who would have a reasonable number printed up.

On advocacy writing, the potential for a Ann Arbor News monthly bicycle
column was discussed with the possibility brought up for a feature in the
Wednesday walking/running section. On other communications items, Ken Clark
gave a report on the Ann Arbor Community Television show on bicycling and
walking. Bob Krzewinski said he would try and request the show be shown again
so it could be taped. For the WBWC web page, Bob Krzewinski forwarded to Kris
Talley a number of past meeting minutes for posting. Ken Clark would also
work on a revised letter to the Ann Arbor News over State/Liberty street
improvements.

For May Bike Month activities, Ken Clark gave a report on the "Bicycling and
Walking Into The 21st Century" presentation given during Bike To Work Week.
Bob Krzewinski would send thank you notes to those giving presentations. It
was also suggested that for 2002 Bike Month activities, a subcommittee be
established.

Bob Krzewinski discussed the participation of the WBWC at Huron River Day on
Sunday, July 8th and a need for volunteers from noon until 4pm. The Board
also discussed the endorsements given through e-mail to requests by
Pittsfield Township and the Washtenaw County Parks and Recreation Commission
to have the WBWC support their requests for Southeast Michigan Greenway
grants for non-motorized pathway developments.

For increasing the number of "Share The Road" signs in Ann Arbor, Ken Clark
would bring this up again at the next meeting of the Ann Arbor Bicycle
Committee. Ken would also review the report he did on the Ann Arbor Capitol
Improvements Plan to target specific bicycling/walking projects for advocacy
by the WBWC. Bob Krzewinski also indicated that it may be time to have a
meeting with the new county Sheriff over road rage directed at cyclists and
runners/walkers and would contact the Sheriffs office.

With no other business, the meeting adjourned at 8:34pm.
