Meeting Minutes - August 2, 2001
The meeting was called to order at 7:10pm at the Ecology Center by Chair Bob
Krzewinski. Board members and Officer attendees were Ken Clark, Tim Athan
Scott Koll. A motion to accept the minutes of the July 2001 meeting was mad
by Tim Athan, seconded by Scott Koll, passing unanimously. Scott Koll
reported that there was $280.00 in the treasury.
Concerning the WBWC by-laws, Bob Krzewinski was still working on revisions
and hopes to have the task completed in the near future. On membership
matters, Board members/officers were to continue efforts to reach out to
retailers. On Committees, individuals were still needed to help with
membership, education and publicity.
On the WBWC web page, Bob Krzewinski will forward a new advocacy action item
to Kris Talley. For publicity/advocacy, Ken Clark will forward a letter to
Bob Krzewinski for publication in the Ann Arbor News on State/Liberty Street
improvements. Bob Krzewinski would also contact Jim Nieters about his work on
a possible monthly Ann Arbor News bicycle column.
Bob Krzewinski reported that the WBWC display at Huron River Day was a great
success and recommended a display again next year. On the Ann Arbor Capitol
Improvements Plan, Ken Clark would continue to review bicycling/walking
projects for recommendation for action by the WBWC. Bob Krzewinski is
continuing to try to set up an appointment with the Washtenaw County Sheriff
to discuss the concerns of cyclists and pedestrians. Once such a meeting is
set up, Bob will notify the WBWC Board and Officers.
On "Share The Road" signs, Ken Clark was continuing to advance this
item at
the City of Ann Arbor Bicycle Committee. Ken also reported that a
Transportation Sub-Committee of the Ann Arbor Environmental Commission had
been established with initials goals being the formulation of a pedestrian
bill of rights as well as establishing pre-emptive signaling. Bob Krzewinski
also reported a need for sidewalks along a heavily used pedestrian area on
the south side of Packard Street, just east of Carpenter. Bob would survey
the area and take photos to present at the next WBWC meeting.
With no other business, the meeting adjourned at 8:05pm.
Respectfully submitted,
Bob Krzewinski
