In 2009, WBWC launched the A2 Walks campaign to make Ann Arbor a safer, more enjoyable city for walkers. We know Ann Arbor is widely recognized as being one of the most walkable communities in Michigan, but as anyone who walks here can tell you, we still have a work to do.
Phase 1: Crosswalk Education and Design. You know you're in a city that respects walkers when...
1) Vehicles promptly stop for pedestrians at crosswalks.
2) Crosswalks are clearly marked and well designed for both motorists and pedestrians.
In Ann Arbor, we still have work to do in both of these areas. WBWC is partnering with the City of Ann Arbor, Downtown Development Authority (DDA) and Thomson Reuters (one of Ann Arbor's largest employers) to make this happen.
