WBWC's Role

The Washtenaw Bicycling and Walking Coalition believes the Safe Routes to school program plays a very important role in raising the visibilty of biking/walking concerns for children and all who choose to bike or walk for transportation or recreation, as well as implementing solutions. We suppport it in a number of ways, including:

  • Maintaining this website
  • Maintaining a mail group for local SR2S discussions
  • In 2007, WBWC paid the registration fees for two local officials to attend the first-ever national SR2S conference in Dearborn MI in November 2007. One of the officials, Saline Deputy Chief Jack Ceo, wrote up this description of the event.
  • Distributing SR2S materials at events we attend, including Ann Arbor's 4th of July parade and Tour de Kids.
